Details
Aluminum-zinc-silicon (GL) products are alloy-coated on the surface of steel strips through hot-dip coating with an alloy consisting of 55% aluminum (Al), 43.5% zinc (Zn), and 1.5% silicon (Si), offering excellent corrosion resistance.
Hot-dip aluminum-zinc alloy was successfully developed on the basis of hot-dip aluminizing and hot-dip galvanizing technologies. It combines the excellent atmospheric corrosion resistance and thermal oxidation resistance of aluminized products with the superior electrochemical protection of galvanized steel products, making it less prone to corrosion and rusting at cut edges and scratch marks.
Its main advantages are as follows:
(1) It has a smooth surface and excellent resistance to atmospheric corrosion; its corrosion-resistant lifespan is 2 to 6 times longer than that of hot-dip galvanized steel sheets.
(2) It exhibits excellent heat resistance and oxidation resistance, maintaining its color stability at 300℃ for extended periods and allowing long-term use at around 500℃. It also demonstrates outstanding resistance to water and soil corrosion—its resistance to water corrosion surpasses that of hot-dip galvanized sheets and hot-dip aluminized sheets, while its resistance to soil corrosion outperforms hot-dip galvanized sheets. Therefore, it is an ideal material for manufacturing corrosion-resistant components such as automotive mufflers, exhaust pipes, grain dryers, and water heaters. Additionally, the product’s thermal reflectivity exceeds 75%, which is twice that of galvanized sheets.
(3) It exhibits excellent paintability and good processability. It has strong adhesion to organic materials, making it an ideal choice for the substrate of color-coated organic steel sheets. Its processability and weldability are similar to those of hot-dip galvanized steel sheets, allowing it to undergo cold bending, stamping, and other forming operations while maintaining a superior aesthetic appearance.
Main application areas:
